I study graphic design and my tutor recommended and used this in his classes at art college last year, it’s so good it has SO many features for free, I really recommend it, even if you’re just trying to learn the basics of PS, such a wonderful thing <3
As you might be aware I have big feelings about all besnouted creatures, but recently something has been grating on me. Sometimes, when people draw a snout animal, they draw the snout as a nose with the mouth as a separate entity underneath. This is a stylistic choice I greatly dislike because a snout or trunk is, by definition
A COMBINATION OF THE NOSE AND UPPER-LIP.
You can see here that the snout is not a separate entity from the mouth in these mammals, but is a fleshy protuberance emanating from the upper jaw.
You can see in this illustration how a more anatomically accurate snout position gives an anthropomorphic pig a degree of charm that an inaccurate snout position does not.
Snout positioning can make or break a character design for me.

No one wants to work anymore. All kids these days want is to physically transform into animals. Bones cracking, breaking, splintering apart, stitching together into exhilaratingly new shapes. Ragged-lip maws dripping with alien teeth, crowning in teething agony like the birth of an infant god. Gore-streaked visages howling in pagan delight by the pale light of the moon, etc. No work ethic. He who makes a beast of himself takes away the pain of clocking in tomorrow
Almost. Years ago my computer suddenly stopped working and lost everything on it. Fortunately a relatively recent backup still existed bc of my family, a recent parts switch, and dumb luck. But last year a friend of mine got hacked and lost close to everything he had done creatively in the last 17-ish years. Art. Novels in progress. Entire conlangs. DnD character Sheets. Music he had made. All gone. He never backed any of it up. Few months later I started this habit (or ritual, almost) of drawing a reminder beast any time I would make a full complete backup. In hopes that seeing these things might remind others and myself. (Another factor here is that I am an animator and some of the stuff on my computer took literal years to make. And the film university I go to urges us to take this stuff seriously, too.)
“feminine urge” “she/they coded” “girl [thing]” the way social media commodifies and memefies gender roles these days is so fucking weird dude.
like idk maybe we should be doing more to break the notion of separating behaviour by gender instead of reinforcing it but with quirky language
like i understand that sometimes people use these memes ironically and that’s fine, but there’s certainly a pattern developing and a lot of people use these memes a lot more earnestly than you’d think
saying “girl dinner” and posting a photo of estrogen is funny though
i have become radicalized as a pawpaw agent, pollinate a flower or two on your local tree!
More isolated, further north = less likely to be self-pollinated. You need different genetics around and enough awake pollinators to make sure you get fall fruit, so lend a helping hand
this like a huge part of why that “i want shorter games with worse graphics” meme always annoyed me because “worse graphics” seem to mean “game’s that have an art direction/focus on stylization” because even though this is intended to be praise “worse graphics’ is both pretty backhanded and also just like. wrong.
i think when people say "i want worse graphics” they mean “i don’t think hyperrealistic graphic fidelity that lets me see the crumbs in krato’s beard is worth crunch” which like yeah i agree, but the assumption that, that means hyperstylization somehow does not take just as much if not more hard work is just really silly to me. and these takes are framing it as “good” that cuphead has “bad graphics” which is both again extremely backhanded and just. not true.
